Where now?

Today began semester two of my second year. It has already become apparent that the intensity will be increasing in the next few days. I wouldn't say I’m nervous or anxious, more excited combined with apprehension. It is absolutely nuts to think that I am half way through my Bachelor of Advertising. Thrilling, but absolutely nuts. It was only the other day I graduated high school and soon I will be thrown into the big world of… EMPLOYMENT. Perhaps my feelings shall change as my skills in idea development grow, creative instincts multiply and ambition surges through me.
This evening at RMIT Hungry Talks the choice of which path to take was further enforced within me. I am thoroughly interested in the creative side of Advertising. I am always absorbing everything around me. Not only advertisements and marketing but nature, people, conversations, aesthetics. (Hopefully this gives me a better understanding of the different target audiences possible when given a brief.) Tonight some of the different roles in an Advertising firm were explored, and although they seem interesting i
n particular strategy and client management the creative side is definitely where I belong.
The options I have are;
conceptual
design
copywriting
art direction
I have commonly assumed Art Direction seemed like the logical path for myself but I want to keep my mind open to the other options above, in particular Copy Writing. When I was at school I loved creative writing but as the years went on I lost my ambition. This semester I will try to develop my Copy Writing Skills in hope I can determine the path I am which it take in the coming years.
